June 2016 Recipients
The Hearing Association Hamilton & Districts Branch received $2,000 to purchase two digital Maxi Listening Devices to increase sound levels for the hearing impaired in difficult listening situations.
Hearing loss is the largest disability sector in New Zealand, affecting 16 percent of the adult population. The organisation provides education, advocacy and support for all community members living with hearing impairments, ensuring they have access to hearing aids and other devices no matter their financial circumstance.
The Maxi Listening Devices will amplify sounds in tough listening situations, such as meetings, events and home visits helping people live life as normal hearing members of society.
