Mikayla McDonald received $5,000 towards Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy surgery for her son, Damin Ching.
Damin was diagnosed with Right Side Hemiplegia, a type of Cerebral Palsy, when he was nine months old, causing weakness on one entire side of the body.
The surgery involves cutting certain sensory nerve fibres, relieving the affected muscle, and giving him better functionality in his leg.
