10-year-old Thomas has a rare form of muscular dystrophy which means he has low muscle tone and bone density.
Swimming is a great activity for Thomas as it keeps his body moving and maintains his existing muscle strength. However, he currently relies on others to carry and lift him in and out of the water.
Thomas received $5,370.50 to purchase a J.O.B beach wheelchair, which has special air-filled wheels that allow it to be pushed into the open water and rolled over sand, giving Thomas access to the beach and swimming pools and allowing him to continue his favourite activity.
