Susie Nyika is a social worker who works closely with Oranga Tamariki. Through her work at Oranga Tamariki she connected with Ryan, a disadvantaged boy living with Spina Bifida who is wheelchair bound and living in a dysfunctional family home. Susie received a grant of $2,227 to purchase interchangeable mountain bike wheels for Ryan’s wheelchair creating a more accessible world for him and enabling him to participate in outdoor activities with his peers, reducing the impact of one of the many hardships he faces daily.
