The Waikato Community Hospice Trust’s vision of “Living Every Moment” moves the focus of care delivery away from dying. Instead, it empowers staff to look at innovative ways to support patients in their care, and their whānau and caregivers, enabling them to make the most of every moment. The trust received a grant of $2,774.00 to purchase a transportable community bed to deliver care at patients’ homes. The community bed will be utilised by the Community Nursing Team to deliver care to patients in their own home and to improve patient’s quality of life by creating a more comfortable environment for them.
