MEIT is a registered charitable trust set up by the landowners, local iwi, and residents to help manage the ecological restoration of Maungatautari. Their mission is to protect and enhance the Mauri of Maungatautari. The trust received a grant of $5,000 to purchase trail cameras which will help save staff and contractors valuable time as they will no longer have to physically check water gates daily.
